What is Choice?

Being pro-choice means protecting women's access to safe, legal abortion. It also means working on ways to help reduce the need for abortion, like improving access to birth control. And it means supporting women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term.

Being pro-choice means more than defending a woman's right to safe, legal abortion. Freedom of choice encompasses advocating for comprehensive sex education and access to birth control, defending a woman's right to bear healthy children, and addressing the inequities in reproductive health-care.

Abortion was legalized in 1973 when the Supreme Court decided the case of Roe v. Wade. The right to safe, legal, and accessible abortion has been under attack ever since.

Access to birth control will help reduce the chance of unplanned pregnancies. Many people do not have regularaccess to the methods available.

Knowing all the facts is necessary to making the best decision. Teens deserve access to comprehensive sex education to get all the information they need.

Crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) are deceptive facilities trying to pass themselves off as actual medical clinics. In reality, they tell women facing unintended pregnancies medically inaccurate and intentionally misleading information.

Women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term deserve to do so in a safe and healthy way. They also deserve to haveall the information about parenting and adoption.

Because of economic and social factors, many women to not have equal access to reproductive health-care or the ability to exercise their rights and make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We work to rectify these injustices.
