FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 6, 2009 NARAL Pro-Choice America Applauds Senate’s Confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to Supreme Court Washington, D.C. – Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, hailed the U.S. Senate for voting to confirm Judge Sonia Sotomayor as the next associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. “Today’s historic vote is a sign of progress for Americans who want a Supreme Court that values individual freedom and privacy,” Keenan said. “During the hearings, Judge Sotomayor articulated several times that the constitutional right to privacy includes the right to choose.
