Job Positions
Reports to: NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina Deputy Director
Location: NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina’s office is in Raleigh, but exceptional candidates based in other parts of the state will be considered.
Summary: The Field Coordinator will direct all aspects of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina's statewide volunteer and grassroots organizing programs. Responsibilities include community outreach on reproductive rights issues and volunteer recruitment, training, placement and retention. The coordinator will also be responsible for working with activists and partners across the state and managing the voter contact program. The position is full-time and salaried.
Responsibilities:
Community Organizing and Outreach
-Develop and implement plans for statewide grassroots organizing, which are strategic and aligned with our political and legislative programs
-Recruit new members and Choice Action Network (CAN) activists at all community outreach opportunities and events
-Coordinate outreach with schools, campuses, and community groups
-Manage activist database
-Manage all aspects of community outreach events, including some materials development, volunteer recruitment, training and execution of all civic engagement activities
-Work in coalition with Blueprint NC Civic Engagement Committee, NC Reproductive Justice Coalition, NC Women United, and the local pro-choice coalition partners
Volunteer and Intern Management
-Recruit, supervise, and adequately place volunteers within the agency on appropriate projects
-Assist in selection of and supervise Community Organizing and Outreach intern
-Maintain contact with local colleges and universities to recruit interns/volunteers at fairs and other events
-Communicate with professors and university departments as needed
Electoral Work
-Responsible for voter education, GOTV, and voter engagement work, including recruiting and training volunteers
-Organize and lead phone banks
-Supervise canvassers as needed
-Assist with 2012 PAC activities
Communications
-Give presentations at community events as needed
-Work with Deputy Director to draft and send CAN Alerts and email correspondence to our members
-Write blog posts and social media updates as needed
Qualifications:
-Must support a woman’s right to choose and the mission of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina
-Minimum of 2 years effective grassroots or political organizing experience, including development, planning, and implementation of grassroots strategies required
-Demonstrated knowledge of direct action organizing required
-Experience working in and building coalitions
-Experience planning and conducting trainings, facilitating meetings, and conducting presentations
-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
-Strong knowledge of the Voter Activation Network and Microsoft Office
-Experience in lobbying a plus
-Ability to travel and have a flexible work schedule; access to reliable transportation required
-College degree or equivalent experience required

Internship Positions
NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina is seeking responsible, dedicated, resolutely pro-choice students (undergraduate or graduate) on college and university campuses statewide to fill the position of NARAL Pro-Choice NC Campus Representative (CR). These CRs will work with our organization to educate fellow students about the importance of reproductive rights issues.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
-Work with NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina staff to develop and implement a grassroots organizing plan
-Plan for and implement 3 campus-based screenings and discussions of the documentary "12th and Delaware" for campus organizations or small student groups
-Conduct educational outreach activities about relevant choice issues on campus, such as tabling events, job/volunteer fairs, campus rallies, etc.
-Track and report relevant campus policies and activities
-Work with students, faculty, staff, and appropriate student and community groups to generate interest in choice issues
-Report data collected from campus organizing work to the NARAL Pro-Choice NC staff
Qualifications:
-Previous membership in campus organizations preferred
-Passion for reproductive health and justice
-Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
-Outgoing personality

Time commitment:
-This position will start in late January and run through the end of the semester
-We anticipate that students will dedicate 5-10 hours per week to this position

Qualifications:
-Background in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field preferred
-Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
-Passion for reproductive health and justice a must
-Location in the Triangle area strongly preferred

-Outgoing personality
